So this is not much, but it still is something. It is much more than just wasting batteries year in and year out on your watches. I still wonder why so many people opt for watches that run on those tiny little cells when you can just buy one that runs either on solar energy or even better; on human kinetic energy. Many might complain about the lack of variety and options but then it is no longer entirely true. With the modern consumer being more and more demanding, companies are rolling out several models that are both eco friendly and hot to carry around.

The Casio Oceanus OCWM800TBA-1A is the first “atomic solar powered” chronograph and while that is not a giant leap forward from the existing technology, it still is a considerable step foward in both design and style. It replaces the conventional digital approach of such watches to the more pleasant analog style and while I am no big fan of such watches that are filled with a lot of stuff, it might still work well for many. I generally tend to prefer watches that show nothing beyond the time and are not cluttered with stuff. But then it is not like I do much work, so it works fine for me.

It costs about $900 right now but the price on these things falls pretty rapidly, so don’t worry about it too much. Very soon you will be able to get one if you wish to for a lot less. Of course it helps you to do away with tiny amount of toxic waste by running without any batteries!
