Applied Clean Tech turns sewage into eco friendly paper

One of the biggest problems in urban communities is proper disposal of waste. While we flush away each day, the treatment plants across the globe have a challenge on their hands when it comes to save disposal of human waste. Israel-based Applied Clean Tech has devised a wonderful recycling system that turns sewage waste into recycled paper. This is not just recycling, but also upcycling.

Recycled Paper Products from Poo Looks Like

This company produces recycled paper from toilet paper and other solid waste. Initially the company aimed to accumulate all the cellulose and oils of the solid waste from the water treatment plants and use it for fuel production, but then jumped to the conclusion that producing recycled paper from the same solid waste would be a better idea which will rapidly reach the market. Refael Aharon , the CEO of this particular company, further elaborated and brought to the limelight that this undigested human fecal matter, toilet paper add to the cellulose content of the recycled paper thus made, which would be used as envelopes in Israel. Apart from this, recycling of human waste also saves energy which is another important aspect in the process. The new sewage treatment plants use the latest system which can save just about twenty to thirty percent on the energy costs in the course of treating the waste.

The advantages of using recycled paper are many. After all, this saves precious trees from being cut down for the production of paper. As we all know, trees are essential in regulating the ecological balance and cutting them down for production of paper isn’t actually necessary if researchers can figure out more ways to produce green paper. Thus, the plan of producing recycled paper from toilet paper is no doubt, brilliant.
