Eco Factor: Mixed-use development to promote sustainable living.
The Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council has announced the completion of the project plan for a new 4500 hectare Capital District, which will serve as a second downtown for Abu Dhabi. The development will be made up of government offices, business, academic and knowledge-based sectors. It will also provide housing to about 370,000 residents.
To be built between Abu Dhabi International Airport and Mohammad Bin Zayed City, the development will represent a blend of economic, social and environmental sustainability. The Capital District will promote water and energy conservation, and make use of recycled construction materials to reduce waste.
