A cool commercial: Reducing the Greenhouse gases

commercial at work

In recent times we have seen the entertainment industry wake up & acknowledge the concerns of world environment. We have had Hollywood big names lending their voice to a “green cause”. Now, it seems the advertising industry does not want to be far behind. Sure, advertising promotes awareness towards many global eco concerns. But it’s not just that, the industry is looking into itself to see what it can contribute towards a more beautiful tomorrow.

Making of TV commercials involves lot of energy; this implies that there are plenty of greenhouse gases produced. Now an Ad firm called the “Brooklyn Brothers” has created software that tracks the amount of Carbon based gases involved in the production. They developed this technology along with ERM, a London based company that specializes in Environmental-Engineering. They went on to create an Ad film in a Carbon-Neutral manner. Now that is indeed a great achievement. It is not easy to directly achieve such a high goal, so all credit to them. Now that this has started, one can only hope other follow the footsteps.

One final word though. If most commercials are outdoors, then why is “solar energy” not integrated into the energy producing units? Anyone wants to take up the idea & go for it, most welcome. (Obviously because I do not own an Ad company or know anything about the equipment. Yes, I just throw ideas in the wind & then sit doing nothing. That is my job)
