Public transport is one of the most used modes to commute. Imagine generating electricity through bus stops for commuting. With auto manufacturers focusing on electric engines for cars and buses, it becomes possible to recharge electric buses using solar energy that is generated on bus stops. These buses could be charged through wireless means by the bus stops as the buses pass by. These bus stops harvest solar energy.
The project, designed by Gavin Harvey, has many innovative features that can be very useful in saving resources for the future. With increasing global warming, these projects will be very useful in cutting down the power consumption and hence reducing its cost. It is a simple wireless project that drives energy from a renewable energy source that is the sun.
This design of the bus stop has four important parts:
1. Power from the national grid.
2. The top up charger.
3. The solar energy.
4. The remaining power form the solar panels that feed back to the grid.
These four most important parts of the bus stop can help in saving energy. This design has no wires involved to supply energy to the buses for commuting. It will directly charge the buses that will pass by with energy to ensure its smooth running and not hindering the daily transportation.
Everyone today should try to minimize the use of energy resources and maximize use of natural sources of energy. A little effort put in by each individual can be of great help. Everyone uses public transports sometime or the other, such innovative WiCity designs can be of great help.
