Bamboo is the fastest growing plant on the planet. So what better way to make use of this gift of nature than by using it in all the possible ways? But somehow, say Bamboo & my mind still goes to the dense forests in China, where cuddly giant pandas are munching on some Bamboo roots lazily. It somehow is the picture of Bamboo that seems to have made an indelible mark on my mind as a kid. I hope all those Giant Pandas are doing just fine & are on their way to getting out of “protected” list of animals. It is such a joke, to use the word ‘protected’. I think I must use ‘endangered’ as every natural resource must be protected or with the pace with which we are moving forward, we will be all but gone from the planet.
I have wandered a bit too far away from what I intended to say, but animal conservation is really important people. So stop buying exotic stuff & start buying eco-friendly products; like say… Bamboo clothing! It will not surprise anyone when I say that Bamboo is a very tuff plant & some breeds of Bamboo are as strong as steel. But it is remarkable how modern technology has found a way to transform even this hard substance in to gentle clothing, which would actually go on to pamper your senses. It is not too difficult to go out & find a store that garments & maybe even a fashion line made out of Bamboo.

The fabric made out of the plant is very soft & is made so with some chemical treatment. While we all agree that Bamboo clothing is something that is eco-friendly, the way it is produced might not be still that gentle with nature. Hence it becomes important for you (& your skin) to make sure your next pair of Bamboo Jeans or Bamboo Tee is not drenched in chemicals. Such a product would defeat the purpose itself. As more of the textile industry gets in to this product, it might soon be made in a more eco-friendly fashion. There are already few manufacturers that do the same, so it is advised that you check out the process before buying any Bamboo garment.
I hope that, even if this does catch on as a fashion statement, there is enough Bamboo left for the Pandas to eat. Man can be very greedy & we have seen that before.
