Eco Factor: Energy-efficient LED streetlamp powered by solar and wind energy.
Solar energy can be harvested easily on a sunny day and wind energy is perfectly suited for windy cities. Combining the best of these two most common sources of renewable energy, Yuyang DNU has created a hybrid LED streetlamp, which was showcased at the Lighting & Design Exhibition currently being held in Korea.
The hybrid streetlamp features a few solar panels and a small wind turbine to generate renewable energy, which is stored in an onboard 200Ah battery pack. Stored energy is later used to power a 56W LED light. The wind generator can produce about 500W of power and the solar cells can generate up to 300W of clean power.
The creators claim that the product can be installed easily and used anywhere without limitations on certain districts. Moreover, the storage battery holds energy charge to power the light for 3 nights even if no energy is being generated.
