Get ready for the world’s largest wave project off the coast of North Cornwall! Recently, government has given its planning approval to this mammoth project. About 14,000 homes would be able to get electricity from this project.

By the year 2009, this project could generate and deliver electricity. On Monday, Secretary of State for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform, John Hutton will make official announcements.

This huge power station will feature 20 machinery sets along with turbines, pistons and pumps. Earlier, there were some problems, as surfers were a little apprehensive regarding the reduction of wave height. But, with the conformation of physical oceanographer from New Zealand, Dr. Kelly Black that its impact will be quite less, Surfers Against Sewage (SAS), an environmental campaign group, agreed for this project.

Campaign Officer of SAS, Andy Cummins stated, “Wave hub’s government approval is good news for Cornwall and for the future of renewable energy generation in the UK. We look forward to using the same energy we’ve used to ride waves to light up our homes as well.”

To make this project a huge success, four wave device developers have been finalized. They will be testing site also, enabling companies to test devices. It has been expected that approximately 30 wave energy devices will be positioned at wave hub.
