VELUX House: A delightful energy-efficient house

Velux House

House is one of the basic necessities of the mankind providing shelter and nurturing life behind the solid walls. And, these houses gradually become our homes where dreams grow, generations live and tears of joy and sorrows are shared. But, hardly do we notice that while constructing and maintaining our own homes, we are destroying the environment of our Mother Earth. So, why not live in an eco-friendly, energy efficient and carbon neutral home? VELUX House is exactly that, a sustainable house, energy efficient and surely beautiful.

VELUX House is an initiative by the Danish company VELUX and currently it is located in La Rochelle, Charente-Maritime. As it is a demonstration project, the House is a temporary building and it will be moved sometime this month to other city for demonstration. Through the VELUX House, the company is trying to show that it is possible to make carbon neutral buildings. The House has made an excellent use of natural daylight, by placing the windows strategically to ensure that the building is properly lit and ventilated. And thus, uplifting the energy-efficiency of the building.

The solar energy can also be used to regulate the temperature of the building or to heat the domestic water supply, making people less dependent on the fossil fuels. The entire concept of the house is built on the idea that thermal energy from the sun can be tapped for use with the help of roof windows. Using the building components that can tap the renewable sources of energy both from inside as well as outside would automatically enhance the overall energy-efficiency of your home. And thus, your house would be greener and carbon neutral and lets you enjoy the nature and all its goodness, without disturbing the environment much.
