Eco Factor: Zero-emission motorcycle powered by hydrogen fuel cells.

The brainchild of designer Terrence Teo, the V-Trek is an off-road/road bike which identifies itself with a group of youths and young adults. Similar to fashion that follow ‘trends’, the V-Trek promotes not only its ability to change its outlook, but also as a eco-solution with its zero-carbon emissions engine, in the face of global warming.

The casings for V-Trek are designed such that users are able to easily personalize its outlook according to their choice of style. By doing so, V-Trek aims to promote to this market the use of such transport that has little or no carbon footprint unlike its petroleum counterparts.

The technology in V-Trek uses a proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cell. The fuel cell basically converts the chemical energy of hydrogen and an oxidant (oxygen) to generate electricity. Hydrogen stored in metal hydride canisters or pressurized bottles servs as the gas tank for V-Trek, which are placed into the holding area where the gas would be regulated into the fuel cell stack.

Depending on how the user wants to operate V-Trek, 700 liter hydrogen stored in a metal hydride canister powers the onboard 1KW motor to a top speed of 50km/h for up to an hour.
