Eco Factor: Robotic vehicle fueled by a low-emission hybrid engine.
The U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center, or TARDEC, is testing the Anonymous Platform Demonstrator, or APD, which is being shown off at a few select events. The APD is a hybrid-electric robotic vehicle that is aimed to develop vehicles that are more fuel efficient.
In addition to the environmental benefits of hybrids, the army needs vehicles that are low on fuel consumption, as they help the army to reduce long, vulnerable supply lines to something more manageable.
