Swiss embroidery company Forster Rohner and the Alexandra Institute has assisted the design firm to attach 100 tiny solar panels on the bags exterior.
These panels can catch the energy of the sun and help you recharge the cell phone inside the bag. What’s more, night time searching for the essential lipstick or the car keys is a thing of the past with this new bag. It is because there are fiber optics integrated within the handbag, which light up the moment you open it making searching for items very simple.
The bag is fashionably black with the solar panels making a style statement of their own. Diffus is known to be a design firm that mixes and matches new technology with traditional methods to come up with a product that’s practical as well as fashionable.
Hanne-Louise Johannesen, the company’s co-founder who takes inspiration from the famous designer Gustave Eiffel’s work says that it is his signature style to combine function and design which has been implemented with this new solar powered hand bag.
Diffus’s carryall is also a new design because of the material used for the solar textiles. They have shrunk the photovoltaic material used – mono-crystalline silicone into over-sized sequins over a great expanse. On exposure to sun, these can generate 2 watts of energy, and as more efficient solar elements are discovered, this efficiency will only increase.
