Designed by Rafael Vinoly Architects, the Clyde F. Barker Penn Transplant House is one of the biggest home for transplant patients in the USA. Developed in Philadelphia, this project proves to be a ‘home away from home’ for the patients residing here. The beautiful construction and the amazing interiors make the patient feel at home in this place. A healthy and a beautiful atmosphere can not only make you feel at home but also help you heal faster.
The designing and the donation team
This hospital is designed by an internationally recognized architect called Rafael Vinoly and the intention to build this project is to provide comfort to the patients and their families residing in the hospital. This venture has been somewhat funded by public contributions
and partly by the design as well as the team at the hospital.
The design of the hospital
When the designer has patients in mind he would first try to build a suitable atmosphere for them to help them recover faster. Rafael Vinoly’s project includes the required facilities and atmosphere for the patients and their families. A variety of shared spaces is incorporated in his project to provide contented and appropriate surroundings. His design is located in a residential area to make the patients feel at home or living in a house and not a hospital. The windows of the patient’s room open in the south to provide them with natural sunlight. The roof top of the project has an identical saw-tooth roof line. The designer has kept in mind the vertical air circulation with a huge centrally located courtyard. A huge courtyard can also be a medium of communication between the residents of the hospital. This project also includes meeting rooms for families, a dining area, a public kitchen and a laundry room for the inhabitants of the hospital. He has tried to create a perfect living atmosphere for the residents of the hospital and to make them feel at home.
This hospital is perfectly a homely place to make the patients feel good and comfortable and get a fast recovery. A perfectly suitable atmosphere with ample of ventilation and a good amount of natural sunlight can help any patient heal and feel better. An amazing neighborhood, comfortable rooms, and interiors of the hospital make the patients and their families feel at home. This project also contains a lot of place for socializing with the other inhabitants of the hospital.
