Car-makers are jumping on the ‘Go Green!’ bandwagon big time. They are looking to make cleaner & greener cars, but they are not limiting themselves to just doing that. Take the example of Toyota, this car giant plans to integrate some green measures in its production plants besides manufacturing a number of hybrid green vehicles.

The first to benefit from the move will be the company’s Tsutsumi plant that manufactures the Prius. Toyota has its own recipe to go green which has the following ingredients:

Reducing CO2 by using renewable energy including biomass, solar and wind energy.

Planting trees at plant to contribute to the local community.

Achieving groundbreaking environmental performance by introducing innovative technology and kaizen (improvement) activities.

Toyota will make use of a 2,000 KW photovoltaic generation system that they claim is the biggest used by any car manufacturer in the world. The exterior walls of the plant will be painted with photocatalytic paint that will absorb harmful emission made by the plant.

It will also be planting Tsutsumi’s evergreen broadleaf trees to keep the environment fresh and healthy for the workers and the natives. The combination of projects will reduce Tsutsumi’s CO2 emissions by 5%.

Toyota plans to incorporate several other green methods at its plants worldwide.
