Eco Factor: Extreme athlete takes water journey to spread about water pollution.

Creating history by breaking his own world record that was set back in 2007, Tom Jones is paddling through the waters in an attempt to raise awareness and funds to benefit the Plastic Free Ocean campaign. The athlete stood up for the challenge on May 13 and has been paddling 1,500 miles from Key West to New York City since then.

This environmentalist who has also dabbled in martial arts and distance running has set out to raise $500,000 for Plastic Free Ocean. Every bit of this money will go into spreading awareness about the causes and results of pollution and cleaning plastic from the oceans. Wyndham Worldwide’s Wyndham Green initiative will be hosting the welcoming celebrations of Jones at the New York City’s Battery Park on August 28. Green vendors, food, speakers on sustainability, and lot of entertainment await the “extreme” athlete.
