The Thin-Film Photovoltaics Market is predicted to be worth $7.2 billion by 2015, according to a new report that is being released by NanoMarkets LC.

The market status rests at just over $1 billion today and is being driven by the inherent advantages of TFPV over conventional photovoltaics. TFPVs are cheaper, lighter and have the ability to be manufactured on flexible substrates and can also be embedded into walls, roofs and even windows to produce cheap solar power. The best feature of TFPV is that it can operate under low-light conditions, something which conventional PVs lack. The report also states that with the growth in demand most manufacturers have ramped up their production capacity and several manufacturers are even building plants to keep up to the pace in demand.
