Designer Leighton McDonald makes a bold prophetic statement before introducing his Kalos Electric Vehicle concept, as he outlines the bleak Dystopian future of 2020 by the saying “earth’s natural resources have depleted by the hunger for growth and innovation by human race.” And in this scenario where IC engines will seem as anachronistic elements, zero emission conceptions such as the Kalos will vehemently progress into the sustainable side of affairs .
Fundamentally contrived as an all electric, single seater commuter vehicle, the Kalos will be equipped with 4 electric hub motors, interchangeable battery packs, and Polarized windscreen for UVC and UVB protection. The sleek, aerodynamic form almost looking like a futuristic ‘Batpod’, will be supported by an ultra-light carbon fiber frame and insulated with Aerogel.
The car’s mitigation attributes (like the solar protection windscreen or airtight insulation) perhaps has been partially influenced by the Mad Max-esque future. But on the other hand from a purist’s perspective the vehicle does look like a ‘speed freak’, especially if we consider its curvaceous demeanor along a slender yet toned framework.
