Plastic is one thing that is probably the most difficult of all eco-evils to fight against simple because it is the most widespread and widely used material of all. It is so easy to actually work with and is dextrous that it can take more than one shape and form as per the wishes of those who are moulding it. To add to all this, the fact that it is considerably cheaper than all the eco-friendly materials that surround it and are being tipped as viable alternates make it something close to impossible to replace. The best way to deal with the situation in hand is by reducing them and by recycling them.

Technomad Associates LLC in Boston, a manufacturer of weatherproof loudspeakers and audio systems since 1995, has introduced recycled plastic into its loudspeaker manufacturing process as part of the company’s developing green initiative in an effort to reduce waste. This also benefits customers by allowing the makers to minimize their manufacturing costs compared to using new plastic, a petroleum product that is subject to cost increases along with rising oil prices. That is a real good move then for both the planet and your pockets!

Technomad states that the switch to recycled plastic reduces waste without altering the manufacturing process or lessening a product’s durability. The recycled plastic is processed, dyed black for color conformity, and used in the place of the new plastic formerly used for Technomad’s black loudspeaker cabinets. If only more makers can find ways to integrate recycled technology in to new stuff then we could avoid tons of crap that goes in to the landfills each year!
