Swap-o-rama-rama – It is an event where millions of pounds of discarded clothing or garments are turned into unique new designs. Be it sweaters, dresses or hats, this one-day design event relieves the already burdened environment of the discarded clothing by recycling 10,000 pounds of used clothing to recycled fashion by amateur designers.
Founded by Wendy Tremayne — a New York City artist — Swap-o-Rama-Rama, starting from Boston and New York to small towns like Kennesaw, Ga, has expanded with 30 swaps being held a year now in cities all over the country.
The event encourages and helps individuals recycle some of the creativity lost to the clothing industry, Tremayne says.
