Sustainable Mosque With Wind Turbine Minarets and Latticed Roof

british mosqueWith the buzzword of the world now, the religious leaders seem to be getting architectural with the environment concerns! The worldwide Islamic missionary group, Tablighi Jamaat has come up with the innovative idea to build a futuristic giant mosque that features wind turbine minarets and tidal power. Beside the 2012 Olympic complex in Newham, London, the Tablighi Jamaat proposed a giant sustainable mosque that will hold 40,000 worshippers.

Defying the canonical architecture of other British mosques, which have plastic minarets and fake domes imitating the traditional mosques in the Middle East, the futuristic design of the Markaz features wind turbine minarets and an enormous translucent latticed roof to replace the dome. Only 10,000 less than the nearby Olympic stadium, the Markaz and its surrounding buildings would hold a total of 70000 people.
