Fearing of another earthquake revisiting with its treacherous tremors? True, you cannot prevent or avoid it — but, can take precautions. But, how to predict an incoming devastating earthquake? The answer is your cell phone, the Daily Yomiuri Online reports.
On the lines of this concern, the Internal Affairs and Communications Ministry of Japan plans to develop a new emergency-broadcast system. The system will be capable of automatically turning on cell phones so it can send a warning alarm and information to them in case of a major earthquake or other natural disaster.
The ministry is planning to start testing the system that uses a digital terrestrial television broadcasting signal. And once it is successful, it hopes to be able to put it into practice within a few years, a ministry official said.
