Sunny Day: Charge up the wheels while the sun shines!

This really is the future of city commuting or even short-distance commuting as it presents us with the ideal opportunity to completely use solar energy for our transportation. ‘Sunny Day’ is a wonderful bike concept that fully functions only on solar energy and is dependent only on the sun to power it. I just saw ‘Puma Glowstick’ bike just a few days back and I must confess that this is even better in terms of both features and the entire design of the bike.

Featuring an adjustable streamlined solar panel on the front stem, the Sunny Day compact solar electric bicycle is a design by Larry Chen. The solar-panel integrated into the Sunny Day design reduces wind resistance when on the move and when the bicycle is parked, the “synchronal sync- linking system” allows the solar panel to face upwards to make the most of the sun’s energy. This makes the ride a lot better in terms of efficiency and also gives you that option of commuting emission free.

The overall aim is facilitate an easily stored vehicle that can be taken on public transport and is largely free of the grid, eliminating the need to plug in for the recharging of on-board batteries. It seems that the design has achieved that goal to the fullest. Short-distance city commuting does not require blitzkrieging pace or even very long usage without a recharge and in that sense, Sunny Day fits the billing. This surely ensures that there are some bright and sunny days in future for solar energy and hopefully for this particular model too.
