Eco Factor: High-efficiency solar cell technology increases solar cell efficiency.
Sun Power Corporation has yet again successfully maintained its lead in manufacturing the world’s highest efficiency solar cells. The Silicon Valley-based manufacturer of solar power systems has claimed a 24.2 percent efficiency record in solar energy generation at its full scale prototype produced in the manufacturing plant in Philippines. The assertion is of particular interest in the light of the fact that normal energy conversion rates of mass produced cells lurk in the vicinity of just 15 percent with efficiencies rates touching 40 percent only under lab conditions. The company expects that the high-efficiency solar cell technology will help in scaling down the cost of solar energy by increasing the energy production from each solar panel.
