It is indeed nice to know that major firms such as Apple are indeed going green and their efforts to bush up their image and make it clean and green only show us that even companies that thrive and pride themselves on their product quality also are making a very conscious effort to go green. This also probably tells us that ‘green standards and measurements’ are today s much a feature of the quality of the product as the technical aspects are. Apple has decided to go the green way by launching a new program that spreads the message of recycling.
Apple has decided to polish its green image by offering free recycling both on-line and in stores of CPUs, iPods and cell phones; they’re accepting any brand computer or cell phone, not just Macs and iPhones. They also pay for the shipping. While many might obviously believe that it is too little on the part of a firm that is as big as Apple, the point is that they got started and that is a wonderful sign indeed. This also means that you can take your old system irrespective of the brand that it carries and that is indeed something that will generate plenty of goodwill.
It appears that you have to purchase a computer from Apple to be able to have them recycle your old one. It doesn’t say anything about MP3 players besides iPods are accepted, but both cell phones and iPods can be sent to Apple at any time. After you enter info on-line, you’re given the choice of a pre-paid label with your own shipping materials, or a pre-paid mailer sent to you. So apparently i cannot use it, or maybe I can because of an iPod I have.
