Laura Moulton is Portland Street’s new Messiah with her portable streetbook mobile. She has initiated a unique social program for the underprivileged who cannot afford access to real-time libraries. It is a weekly task for her as she sets out to reach out to the poor and enlighten them with her eclectic collection of books on wheels.
It is a very systematic and well thought out plan too. She maintains a register of those who wish to borrow her books and also personally interacts with them to make sure the books she gets for them are suitable for their reading. The mobile book cart looks like an old time ice cream cart which opens up and also slides out drawer on the side.
It is a simple social outreach where everything is carried out in a sustainable manner and help toward enhancement of knowledge and literature.
