So this is not hard as maybe saving the planet from global warming or trying to make sure that the carbon emissions are reduced. But this still is a craft that not many of us can do. Surely none of us are as good at putting toothpicks together to create art forms and working designs like Steve Backman. But this artist can take a toothpick or maybe a bunch of them and can make anything he chooses to from them. While that may not be all used toothpicks, he still is getting a message loud and clear across the board- save the planet by reusing stuff.
Recycled art has become a bit of a rave and it has attracted many people in the last few years. Now I guess not many would be too eager to work with toothpicks and I can totally understand that. But Backman is an artist of the rare breed. I have seen many people make stuff out of toothpicks and matchsticks but none of the models actually work. That cannot be said for the yacht that Backman has crafted. It actually works with a remote control!
He has crafted a lot of other stuff with toothpicks and his art is aimed at reminding all of us that we can reuse and recycle stuff that we usually discard as useless and throw away. I have also come across a unique guy who uses used chopsticks to create art pieces. Of course, there is a very high cleaning process involved in that, but even that effort tells you that the planet is only becoming more and more eco-conscious. It is nice of Steve to make sure that the world thinks more seriously the next time they throw away that toothpick.
