Solar Powered storage facility coming up in Portland

portland storage

Portland will soon have a 22 story tower that will house all the crap you’ve been collecting over the years. In an effort to conserve valuable riverfront land the tower will enclose a giant mechanical arm capable of lifting 40,000 pounds.

The building is mainly designed to house boats, recreational vehicles and storage pods and should soon get a Platinum LEED certification by the Green Building Council. The designer will cover the 100,000 square feet area of the building in solar panels, which will make it the largest solar facility in the Northwest. The excess electricity generated by the solar panels will be sold to Portland General Electric.

The building will also have a retractable roof that will collect and recycle rainwater. This is a good feature considering Portland has an average 155 days of rainy weather each year.
