Eco Factor: Solar-powered traffic light system removes need for manual traffic control.
Chilean designer Roberto Vackflores has designed an intelligent traffic light system that promises to completely replace manual traffic controls on the roads. The new transit system assures increased safety on the road thanks to the interactive LED display which gradually changes colors from red, yellow to green apart from regular displaying maximum speed limits. The lights also direct traffic for the passage of emergency vehicles including ambulances, fire etc. Powered by solar energy, the light pole is fitted with a camera to check road nuisances. The entire system is interestingly connected to pedestrian crossing with safety lights to protect people from oncoming vehicular traffic.
