Eco Factor: Energy-efficient rechargeable lightglobe.
Chinese company Magic Bulb has developed a new type of device which includes a rechargeable battery and a LED lightglobe in a single package. The device, which consumes only 4W of power, emits the equivalent light of a traditional 50W globe.
Moreover, if power fails, the lightglobe continues to work for three more hours using power from its onboard battery. The patented device is expected to retail for between $30 and $40, when it finds distribution in other parts of the world. The manufacturer claims that the lightbulb has a life of about 20,000 hours and saves over 70 percent of the power used by an equivalent filament globe.
