Eco Factor: Green laboratory design based on detailed solar studies for heat gain.

Max-Lab, the national laboratory jointly run by the Swedish Research Council and the Lund University, recently received a brilliant design proposal that amalgamates landscape with architecture and sustainability. Conceptualized by architectural firm Snøhetta, the project proposes a circular shaped building that blends with the landscape via parks.

The award-winning Norwegian architectural firm has designed the twisted cylindrical geometry of the structure based on functional requirements and detailed solar studies for heat gain, reducing it up to 30 percent. The iconic layout of the lab is independent from future developments like agricultural landscaping or urban development in the surrounding area.
