Sky-high city to fight rising sea level

Eco factor: Secondary city 70 meters above sea level with attached skyscrapers.

The melting of the polar ice caps is rewarding the planet with rising sea level, which could eventually drench many of our coastal cities in water. Recognizing our watery fate, Turkish architects Sinan Gunay and Mustafa Bulgur have proposed a design that rather than preventing the flooding places a secondary city at 70 meters above sea level.

Dubbed the “City(e)scape”, the project includes a series of structures that are attached to skyscrapers, forming a second ground plane. Holding the seas back looks like an impossible task, so constructing structures higher comes as a great solution. I cannot comment anything on the practicality of the design, but it certainly sounds fascinating.
