Eco Factor: Skoda Octavia Green E Line concept is powered by 26.5 kWh ion-lithium battery.
The electric car market is growing at an unimaginable rate, and joining the leading EV manufacturers like Nissan and Toyota is Skoda this time. The wholly owned subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group is all set to unveil its Octavia Green E Line concept at the 2010 Paris Motorshow this week. Skoda’s first-ever electric-powered vehicle is based on the Skoda Octavia Combi and has identical seating layout.
Powered by an electric motor, the Octavia Green E Line has a maximum output of 85 kW and 270 Nm of torque, which translates to a range of up to 140 km. It can reach to a top speed of 135 km/h and acceleration of 0 to 100 km/h in just 12 seconds. Weighing 315 kilograms, the 26.5 kWh lithium-ion battery is placed right below the middle and rear parts of the floor and extends partly into the luggage compartment.
The pearl-white colored exterior and elegant chrome-trim on both the front and rear of the vehicle as well as on the wheels create an impressive contrast with the glossy black roof with integrated energy-generating photovoltaic panels. The first fleet of test vehicles is planned for 2011.
