A novel industrial metal degreasing formulations based on natural surfactants derived from sustainable harvested brown kelp seaweed has been recently developed. The two-year EC project that developed it called Seasurf.
Two commercially viable formulations were developed. And each has very significant health, safety and environmental benefits over the existing solvent and aqueous based metal cleaning chemicals. At ambient temperature (30°C), both formulations are highly effective which offers cost savings in terms of energy over most currently used aqueous cleaners.
