Sanford, Florida to become the first city in US to turn waste in to fuel!

sanford
So the state of Florida is now giving the entire country not just the next Democratic candidate but also a recycling and fuel generating plant that will save over $ 9,000,000 in the next 20 years. The city of Sanford is all set to become the first city in USA that would transform biosolids that come from sewer water in to fuel. The sludge that is often left behind from the treatment of sewage water and it is a toxic waste that is hard to get rid off. Now Sanford wishes to change it to energy with the new plant.

MaxWest Environmental Systems has developed the gasification system, which converts sludge from the municipal wastewater treatment system into energy. Now Sanford will use the MaxWest gasification plant to make energy out of what is normally annoying and dangerous waste. The waste water sludge will be gasified in an enclosed primary gasifier to produce syngas. In a continuous integrated process, the syngas will be oxidized in an enclosed thermal oxidizer to produce thermal energy. For Sanford, the thermal energy will replace natural gas to power a new dryer.

The technology will save both the planet and plenty of cash in the long term. The initial cost of the plant is not known yet, but it is surely viable in the long run. It would be nice if other cities across the globe take a look at this technology and adopt it too. Many major US cities are embarking on a green revolution of sorts, and that is only good for the planet. Sanford will hopefully become an example in regards to water waste usage, for the rest of the planet.
