Eco Factor: Electric Range Rover uses six Lithium Polymer batteries to run up to 200 miles.

Bid goodbye to the gas-guzzling 4X4 and make way for the world’s first pure electric 4×4 that promises luxury, style an ecologically sustainable environment. Oxford-based Liberty Electric Cars have unveiled an electric Range Rover, whose production version goes on sale in the U.K. by the end of 2010. Powered by electric motors that get juice from six Lithium Polymer batteries – two under the hood and four on the undercarriage, the electric E-Range reaches a top speed of 85mph and accelerates from 0-60mph in about seven seconds.

This green vehicle with a whooping 200 miles range offers wireless charging. Instead of using conventional leads and plugs, the car’s batteries, which have a 13-year and 300,000-mile lifetime, can be completely charged by parking it above an induction plate for just one to three hours. Of course, owning the power, luxury and comfort isn’t that easy, it comes with the hefty price tag of around $225,500. I hope to see many eco-conscious celebs driving this dream SUV.
