The Solar Powered DIY Portable HotSpot is made simply by connecting a Linksys WRT54G v8 router to five AA rechargeable batteries with the built-in solar panel, and all of this is mounted into a little cigar box. The solar panel puts out 7.5 volts at 500 milliamps in direct sunlight.
It comes already equipped with custom DD-WRT firmware that allows the repeater to scan and connect to the strongest signal automatically. After the strongest signal is detected, it is continuously repeated. You can not only have Wi-Fi connectivity during the day, but you can enjoy the connection even at night, thanks to the rechargeable batteries that store solar energy.
