Just yesterday I covered a nifty gadget that can alert you about your carbon footprints due to electrical usage at home. And falling in the same category is this cutely christened Plogg-Blu that can measure the energy used but not by all the household appliances. This two-part gizmo can only measures consumption of one set of devices like TV, DVD, Wii and the kinds. However its give you the authority to remotely switch off that particular gadget from your cell phone or computer. Whether you use this feature to play a mischief on someone or like me, curb my kids from watching too much of TV, is a personal call.

It uses an adapter that goes in the plug socket of the devices you want to measure, and wirelessly sends the data to your mobile and computer. This power saving pet (Plogg-Blu sounds like a pet’s name) wirelessly hooks up to any Bluetooth-equipped Windows PCs, Windows Mobile and Series 60 phones. Once the energy consumption data is on your computer, you check the charts on Plogg’s supplied software and export the results to Excel.
For $130, it may increase you budget for the month that you purchase in, at least. But then later on, you can cut down on your energy consumption over the period ahead.

I wish I can lay my hands on this green gadget. Primarily for switching off the television at home as my kids just get glued to when I am out running errands.
