Patagonia Inc. to become eco friendly by 2010

patagonia
Patagonia Inc., the California based outdoor clothing company is very seriously trying to reduce its carbon footprint, and it hopes that by 2010 it will use only 100 percent recyclable materials. Do you know Capilene (which is recycled polyester) is Patagonia’s signature material? In fact it is one of the few companies which exclusively use organic cotton. Patagonia commits one percent of their total sales or 10 percent of their profit (whichever is more) to environmental groups. In 2005, the company launched the Common Threads Garment Recycling Program, through which customers could return their worn out Capilene Performance Baselayers for recycling. Now even Patagonia fleece, Polartec fleece from other manufacturers and Patagonia organic cotton T-shirts have been added to the list of recyclables. Now, that is what I say is true commitment! I hope more manufacturers follow Patagonia’s footsteps, and try and seriously make efforts to reduce environmental pollution. Image Source
