Parlee Cycles all set to unveil advanced version of Prius-influenced bike

Parlee Cycles

Don’t heed those naysayers; the Toyota Prius has always been the proverbial golden boy for numerous hybrid cars unveiled over the years. And now after more than 2 million units sold worldwide, it’s certainly an apt time to release a Prius influenced bicycle to celebrate the occasion. And that is exactly what is being done by Boston based Parlee Cycles, in collaboration with Toyota. Supposedly inspired by the advanced design form of Prius, and in part encouraged by its on road success, the state-of-the-art bike is christened as PXP.

Already touted to be an ‘aero road bike’, the crafty design elements of the bike will fuse mechanisms and conceptions influenced by a myriad of other road and touring bikes, in sync with the intrinsic ‘flavor’ of Prius itself. According to the company, the designers sort of want to bring the best of automatic as well as pedal transmission and, hence, the final result would be a sleek, efficient and a stylish bike that would go easy on the legs.

The prototype of PXP already features a lightweight yet sturdy carbon fiber frame for enhanced aerodynamics and that added dose of steering flexibility. Moreover, there is a clear allusion to recycling as the designing team has further utilized the scraps resulting from their preliminary design. The prototype was even put to a wind tunnel test, signaling the end stage of the final design. Anyway, for us green enthusiasts; anything inspired by the exalted Prius is surely to have that ubiquitous element of sustainability associated with it.
