Most of us are not lucky enough to reside in London and groove at the buzzing eco-nightclub that generates energy as the dances tap their foot on the dance floor. However if you are a native of Glastonbury, then Orange has equivalent good-green news for you as it has just announced the launch of a mobile phone charger prototype that is powered by dance energy. Motivated to obtain sustainable energy sources to power mobile phones during summer music festivals, it is powered through the kinetic movement of a system of weighs and magnets, which move as you groove.

Weighing just 180 grams, it comes encased in an elasticated, black, neoprene strap with Velcro attachments which can be strapped on the dancer’s bicep in a similar fashion to a runner’s arm-mounted MP3 player. This armband effortlessly encompasses all the dance-generated energy that can be fed to your cell phones when they run dry. No clue on its pricing though.
