Eco Factor: Sustainable development extracts power from its surroundings.
Oppenheim Architecture + Design will soon bring the first sustainable mixed-use condominium to Miami that will represent a dynamic synergy between architecture, structural engineering and ecology. At 400′ tall the building, christened COR, has been designed to extract power from its environment and use the latest in eco-friendly technology for energy efficiency.
The polka-dotted hyper-efficient exoskeleton provides building structure, thermal mass for insulation, shading for natural cooling and enclosure for terraces. The sustainable building, which comprises of offices, fitness areas, live/work areas and residential spaces, will utilizes the latest advancements in wind turbines, photovoltaics and solar hot water generators, will be seeking a LEED Platinum certification upon completion.
Other sustainable features that are incorporated within the building include a gray water recycling system, bamboo floors, recycled glass tiles, waterless urinals, green roof and low VOC paints and adhesives.
