Once a Gate: Reclaimed Timber Chair carves a niche for itself

UK-based designer Claire Danthois is hard at work going through random people’s junk looking for pieces of wood that can be saved from an ashy demise and reintegrated into mainstream culture again. Her exquisite Once Discarded design concept is novel way of bringing back old fixtures and using woods reclaimed from them to make furnitures useful around the house. The designer ensures that markings from the previous use of the wood are not covered up and leaves them untouched to give her pieces dollops of character and depth. Her more remarkable works include creations called Once a Gate, Once a Door and Once a Ladder, that tell a tale of sustainable living and upcycling made relevant to modern furniture lines.
