Northern Ireland: Solar or wind power to get mandatory for all new buildings from 2008

green energy hainNorthern Ireland Government is taking amazing steps for turning the country green. All new buildings in the country will have to make the use of renewable energy from 2008. These changes are being proposed to the Building Regulations, Secretary of State Peter Hain MP informed.

The renewable energy use includes micro-generation — such as solar panels for heating hot water, roof-top solar photovoltaic panels for generating electricity or small wind turbines for houses. These changes apply to all new homes, company and public buildings, and will be mandatory in less than two years.
