Paint made of milk! It’s a formula that dates back to ancient Egypt and was commonly used by early American Colonists and Shakers to paint their furniture and interiors. Such paint, as can be clearly understood, is not only non-toxic, but environmentally safe too. With the most common recipe, that contained milk protein, quicklime, and earth pigments, no petrochemicals, lead, solvents or harmful additives are used in it. Milk paint, too has a unique durability.
Not sold commercially until the middle 1800’s, Ecowise has launched it in the market, and comes in 16 traditional colors in powdered form. You have to just add water to make a pint, quart or gallon. It leaves a beautiful, eggshell-like finish — not seen in latex paints. You can get it at Ecowise for $10.95.
