Flower Illuminates Light When Needs to Be Watered

watering plantCan you hear the calls and language of plants? Ok, I know am sounding philosophical and poetic. But, things are something different. Students at Singapore University of Technical Sciences have inspired me with this thought.

They have reportedly developed a flower that illuminates light when it needs to be watered. Taking a gene from an atoll that illuminates green light, the students united it with the flower. And the result — a flower that emits light when it needs watering!

Though the light cannot be seen by the naked eye, it can be seen with a special optic device developed by students from Singapore Nanyang Technical University. This developmet will be of great help to the farmers. They will reportedly be able to make better irrigation decisions based on indications direct from the light-giving plant.
