What you see above is a true example of architectural splendor put forward by the Amsterdam-based architectural firm NL Architects. Conceived for a Belgian school, the prize winning design offers a peak into a multifunctional facility within the school premises.

The entire project revolves around a central heart that branches off into four arms to constitute an active hub. The single story building covers itself with a green roof and a glazed surface. Both of these combined provide for abundant natural light along with breathtaking views of the nearby farmlands.

The exteriors consist of branched areas that are used as parks, gardens and an open plaza. The structure also consists of a flexible parking and drop- off zone to maximize the school’s abundant plot area. The heart of the building encapsulates a corridor which helps to connect the various facilities. This area also contains amoeba-shaped cavities that provide convenient spaces for studying and playing.

On the whole, the project is a visual landscape and stimulating retreat which is sure to capture young hearts!
