New hybrid buses turn Canada green

Canada is hit by green buses this week. TTC has launched its new ‘hybrid’ buses for the first time to help the country go environmentally friendly. The Orion VII low-floor bus has been purchased by TTC to make the cities go green. Among the150 new hybrid buses, this is the frist one to ply on the streets.

The routes they will operate on are not yet known. Compared to regular diesel-powered buses, these hybrid buses cost about 50 per cent more. Thus, to let 150 buses on the city, it costs $112 million. And it is paid for by Ottawa, the City of Toronto and the province.
