New centre to monitor climate change-impact on rainfall and coastal erosion

To work and fight against climate change triggering factors, the effects of the same need monitoring too. To look at the climate change-effects on the New South Wales north coast’s rainfall and coastal erosion, the Southern Cross University has set up a new centre.

According to the center’s director, Associate Professor Graham Jones the new centre will be capable of addressing a lack of local information on the climate change’s effects.

He says,

In this region we don’t have a lot of data to make predictive predictions if you like about what might happen to rainfall in the next 20 odd years or so.

Now we need that information, and if we haven’t got it, then we need to set up rain monitoring gauges, not only to measure rainfall, but to measure wind stress and wind direction.
