New air sterilizer to fight deadly hospital infections

Good news for battlefield troops and hospital patients. A new innovative air sterilization technology is on the making that will protect them from the ever-prevailing toxicity and deadly infectious diseases in the environment around respectively. Thanks to the University at Buffalo researchers for developing it. The research is being funded by U.S. Department of Defense.

The new air sterilizer will control the hospital-acquired infections, treating many of which are becoming increasingly difficult. Developing this health-care prototype and taking it into clinical trials got a grant of $674,900 from NYSTAR’s Technology Transfer Investment Program.

Testing the sterilizer, it is found to be capable of eradicating greater than 99.9999 percent of the spores of an anthrax surrogate in an airstream, the researchers informed.
