It is believed that one of the most important fundamental right of a human being is not education or equality but the right to commit mistakes. It is acceptable to err as a human but what distinguishes us is the ability to amend our misdoings. Guided by this philosophy, NASA has taken a pathbreaking step to cure human ailments of congestion, dearth of resources and environmental damages.
NASA has made an attempt to build a home from home, our very own mother Earth. It aspires to extend the extent of human presence across the solar system. In its Constellation program, it envisions to place humans initially on the International Space Station, then in the bases on moon and ultimately on Mars and beyond. One of the initiating attempts is putting together an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) that examines the potential environmental impacts of the early stages of the program, predominantly the building, testing and launch of a new spacecraft known as the Orion.
Undertaking an event of such magnitude, this displacement of population would be one of the biggest achievements of science and the power of human imagination. So may be John Gray was ahead of his time when he said that men are from Mars and women from Venus. A premonition, may be?
